This Summer has been one of the hottest and driest on record in the UK. It is not advisable to lay new lawns but if you do need to lay a new lawn during this exceptionally hot period did you know that there is an exemption for 28 days for watering newly laid lawns?
You can use a hosepipe to water newly laid lawns for 28 days after laying to help them establish. You must be able to provide evidence of the date on which the lawn laying was completed. Failure to do so and watering longer than 28 days will be considered a breach of the conditions of the temporary ban. Please check this with your water supplier.
We would recommend to wait for cooler weather to lay a new lawn and when there is a reduce demand for water.
